Subtitle: Between political speeches and the people's reality, the country continues to wait for a transformative and committed leadership.
Mozambique is a rich country in natural resources, cultural diversity, youth, and hope. However, despite this clear potential, development remains slow and unequal. People continue to live in poverty, suffering from corruption, unemployment, and lack of opportunity. And the big question remains: what kind of leadership do we have and what kind do we lack?
The absence of true leadership
Many political leaders in Mozambique talk about progress, but govern for their own interests. What is missing is transformational leadership one that listens, respects, and serves with humility. What’s needed is presence on the ground, where the people's real problems are felt.
The kind of leadership we lack walks on foot through villages, feels the pain of unemployed youth, values the rural woman, looks people in the eyes and acts with justice.
Speeches don't feed the people
What we see most often is leadership disconnected from reality, living off empty promises and recycled speeches. Grand projects are announced on television, but hospitals still lack medicine, schools lack desks, and families lack clean water.
Meanwhile, the youth dreams of a better future one that is slow to arrive.
We need ethics and inclusion
What’s missing is ethical and transparent leadership, one that shows where public money goes. People want accountability. They want justice. They want leaders who lead by example not just by command.
An inclusive leadership is also urgently needed one that involves women, youth, farmers, and informal workers in decisions that affect their lives. A nation cannot be built by ignoring its majority.
Looking to the future, not just elections
The country needs leadership with long-term vision. One that thinks about Mozambique beyond the next term and seriously invests in education, sustainable agriculture, clean energy, and digital innovation.
The Mozambican people are strong, hardworking, and resilient. What is lacking is not strength but leadership with courage, truth, and commitment.
